Our Hamam,
the Turkish baths for woman,
is a subsidiary of the Centre for woman called, “Schokoladenfabrik” the Chocolate Factory. Founded in 1988. Hamam is a bathing ceremony of the cleansing of the body and soul. Relaxation and communication in a warm and pleasant atmosphere, are key elements of the Hamam culture. Here woman from different cultures and walks of life work and meet.
The Hamam culture which has been developed and cultivated over thousands of years, had it’s origin in the Orient. The Turkish bathing culture dates back to around 800 years. In middle Anatolian and Istanbul one still finds the most beautiful baths. Spending time, bathing and plunging in the oriental baths, has become a luxury far away from the hectic and the stresses of our everyday lives . Here the body and soul can enjoy a bath in the mild warmth and soft lighting. This is a culture that not only includes the cleansing of the body, but is a pure pleasure for the senses. An absolute symphony of the senses and a sense of well-being is created by the warmth, the foamy lather, the fragrances, and the sense of touching. However, translated from the Arabic language, the word “Hamam”, really only means “to warm”.
